The Ship & Crown is a great traditional pub that tends to be busy throughout the day with both locals and tourists alike. The pub has great views across St Peter Port harbour, especially on a clear day. The menu features all the pub grub classics from beef and Guinness pie to scampi and chips as well as sandwiches, toasties and salads.

Fleur du Jardin Kings Mill, Castel (01481 57996)
The quaint 15th century Fleur de Jardin Hotel is a very popular hotel on the island and also boasts a great bar. There’s a good atmosphere set off by the low oak beams and in winter the roaring log fires. Being a hotel the food served both lunchtime and evening is particularly good too.

Cock & Bull 2 Lower Hautville, St Peter Port (01481 722660)
Slightly off the beaten track the Cock & Bull still manages to remain a highly popular establishment. There’s an excellent range of real ales including local brews and cider in the summer.

Drunken Duck Charotterie (01481725045)
The Drunken Duck is a small and cosy pub that’s always full on quiz nights and when there’s live music playing. Bar snacks are available in the evening but it’s the real ale that attracts the regulars.

This old inn set on the edge of the beach dates back to the 17th century, where rumour has it was indeed used by smugglers. Its beach side location makes it popular in summer although the roaring log fires in winter make it a cosy choice too. There’s often live music to keep customers entertainment and food is available both lunchtimes and evenings.

The Royal Hotel boasts a lounge and public bar as well as a children’s play area making this a very family friendly pub. It also has a separate restaurant area upstairs serving delicious home-cooked food.

Star & Tipsy Toad La Route de Beaumont, St Peter (01534 485556)
The Star & Tipsy Toad is famous for brewing its own beer on site and customers are welcome to take part in tours around the brewery if they choose. In this busy but spacious pub you’ll often be treated to live bands and there’s a good all day menu too.

Chambers Mulcaster Street, St Helier (01534 735405)
Chambers is widely considered one of the best-known bars on the island. Its reputation for staying open until 1am every night with live music every night makes it a real party place. They also serve a great Sunday lunch for £12.95 per person including four courses and coffee.

Pembroke Coast Road, Grouville (01534 855756)
The Pembroke is well known for its warm welcome and laidback atmosphere especially on a Sunday when they serve a great Sunday roast but it’s so popular it’s a good idea to book in advance. There’s also a kid’s play area and specialist children’s menu.
